Name: Lillian Holt
Born on Cherbourg Aboriginal Settlement, Queensland and raised in Central
Western Queensland.
She was appointed a Vice-Chancellor's Fellow in 2003. Previously, she
was the Director of the Centre for Indigenous Education, University of
Melbourne and before that, Principal of Tauondi (formerly the Aboriginal
Community College), Port Adelaide, where she worked for sixteen years,
on her return from post-graduate study in the United States.
Lillian's passionate voice is often heard publicly discussing issues pertaining
to the human condition, including racism and whiteness, reconciliation
and human rights, and Aboriginal humour. She holds a BA from the University
of Queensland and an MA from the University of Northern Colorado. Lillian
is currently working on a PhD thesis, entitled "Aboriginal Humour"
at the University of Melbourne.
She has presented at numerous conferences, both nationally and internationally,
since she began working in the field of Indigenous Education, over 30
years ago.
