The EastWeb Launch

On the 2nd of Febuary 2005, despite being pummeled by Melbourne's heaviest rains in years, many fearless guests braved the storm to attend the EastWeb launch. The launch, held in the beautiful foyer of the Koori Heritage Trust, was a wonderful success.

Sipping on native Wild Hibiscus drinks and enjoying the delicious flavours of Grasslands community catering, guests were treated to the fabulous sounds of Indigenous duo, 'Kinja'. After Caroline Briggs' moving Welcome to Country, the speakers, Arnold Zable, Jill Reichstein and board member Al Webster, all spoke impressively and powerfully about the important role that progressive youth philanthropy can play in creating a more just and equitable society.

Not only did the evening establish EastWeb within the community, it allowed people from diverse and distinct backgrounds and fields to come together, create networks and share ideas for the future.

The success of the launch was only made possible thanks to the time and generous efforts of our speakers, volunteers and of course, the Koori Heritage Trust.
